High School Softball Roundup: DCC Stays Unbeaten

Tuesday’s high school softball recaps.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 6, JOHNSONBURG 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – Ashley Wruble, Stephanie Rossi and Jordy Frank had two hits each to lead DuBois Central Catholic to a 6-0 win over visiting Johnsonburg.

Wruble also drove in three runs for the Lady Cardinals.

Riley Assalone got the win. She allowed four hits and two walks while striking out 11.

DCC stayed unbeaten with the win going to 17-0. Johnsonburg is 11-4.

HOLLIDAYSBURG 3, DUBOIS 1

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. – Colleen Murphy drove in a pair of runs to lead Hollidaysburg to a 3-1 win over visiting DuBois.

Murphy was 1-for-3 on the day, while Sierra Paul led the Lady Tigers going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Alexis Ray hit a solo home run in the second inning giving DuBois a 1-0 lead. But Hollidaysburg scored three times in the fifth to go in front.

Kaitlyn Beers also had a double for DuBois.

Emily Dick got the win going seven innings allowing the one run on six hits and a walk while striking out two.

Jackie Vizza took the loss going five innings and allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits and a walk. Samantha Field threw a scoreless inning striking out one.

DuBois is now 9-7 on the year.

CLARION 6, BROCKWAY 0

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Sadie Rudesyle threw a six-hit shutout, as Clarion went on the road and beat Brockway, 6-0.

Rudesyle walked four and struck out four.

Anna Reed had a pair of doubles and was 3-for-4 with two runs scored to pace the Lady Cats offense. Rudesyle helped herself with a pair of RBIs, and Cora Zerfoss was also 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Alayna Dowdall was 2-for-3 to pace Brockway.

Kayla Dowdall took the loss allowing six runs, two earned, on 12 hits and a walk while striking out three over seven innings.

Clarion moves to 10-7 with the win. Brockway drops to 5-7.
