Long-time owners Mike and Cheryl (Van Dale) McMurray announced earlier this week that they sold the business to Matt and Stacie Kaye of Leeper.

The Kayes own two other Cook Forest area businesses – Fair Winds in the Forest Cabins & Lodge and Whispering Oaks.

Cook Riverside Cabins, INC. – which also includes Pale Whale Canoe Rental, Cooksburg Dry Goods, and the Cooksburg Café – had been in the Van Dale/McMurray family since 1968.

Mike and Cheryl, along with their two children Megan and Andrew, took full ownership of the business in 1991.

“We have a wonderful history here and we’re honored to have had the fantastic opportunity of owning this business. It has been a full and colorful life experience, filled with stories that will take the rest of our lives to share,” said Cheryl McMurray.

“The time has come for us to hand our business down to a very capable local couple whom love Cook Forest State Park as much as we do.”
