Howard E. Hartzfeld, age 85 of Erie, PA died Friday, December 31, 2021 at Manchester Commons in Erie, PA.
Born on January 23, 1936 in Luthersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene E. & Arvilla N. (Swartzlander) Hartzfeld.
On September 29, 1956 he married Mary A Shaw Hartzfeld. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2017.
Howard was an over the road truck driver for 52 years.
He had worked for Shaw Mack in DuBois as well as other various trucking companies in the area.
He was a member of the Elk Lodge #379 Free & Accepted Masons, the Coudersport Consistory, and the Zem Zem Temple Shriners.
He was an avid card player and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by 3 children: Diana Fillhart of Bay St. Louis MS, Terry S. Hartzfeld (Susan) of Sun City West, AZ, and Brian H. Hartzfeld (Reyne) of Erie, PA.
He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother Lynn Hartzfeld and a sister Mary Gilbert.
He was preceded in death by sisters; Viola Miknis, Roberta Berger, Betty Hartzfeld, Rebecca Spencer and infant Helen; brothers Robert, James and Glenn Hartzfeld and infant George.
There will be no public visitation and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Manchester Commons for the excellent care that Howard and Mary Alice received.
