Howard Richard “Mac” Munger

Mac Munger, 75, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born in Warren, OH on April 24, 1940, a son of the late Howard Raymond and Mary Ida (White) Munger. His father later married Gladys Mae (Edwards) Munger, who became his stepmother. His mother later married Iliff Orr Woodyard, his stepfather. They all precede him in death.

On July 29, 1961 he married his sweetheart, Maxine Kay Cribley. She survives and resides in Punxsutawney.

Mac worked for over twenty five years as the Assistant Superintendant groundskeeper at the Punxsutawney Country Club.

Because of his positive fun loving disposition, he never met a stranger. He was loved by many people.

He previously enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and softball.

Mac also enjoyed cooking chicken barbeques for the Sportsman Club Booster, the Moose Club and the Army Navy Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Howard Richard Munger, Jr of Dothan, AL, Robin Lynn Liddle and husband Richard, Jr., Dale Munger and wife Amy of Southington, OH, Heidi Hall and husband Larry of Southington, OH, and Eric Munger and Becky of Punxsutawney; twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one brother, Robert Munger and wife Laree of Ravenna, OH, one sister, Michelle Hall and husband William of Blair, NE; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Shumaker Funeral Home, inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday, officiated by Pastor Paul Price.

Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park.
