HS Softball Recaps: Brockway Downs Brookville; Assalone Throws No Hitter for DCC

A look at Wednesday’s high-school softball action

BROCKWAY 4, BROOKVILLE 0

BROCKWAY, Pa. – A four-run fifth inning helped Brockway topple visiting Brookville, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon.

The Lady Rovers had mustered just one hit through four innings while striking out five times against Brookville pitcher Carlie McManigle but got to the freshman for five hits in the fifth including RBI singles by Alayna Dowdall, Savannah Terwilliger and Anndi Bartlett. Kaitlyn Morelli also had an RBI groundout in the inning.

Alayana Dowdall finished 2-for-2 with a run scored for Brockway.

Brookville had three hits, all singles, by Hannah Kirkwood, Maggie Miller and Elliette Park.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 15, KANE 0, 5 INNINGS

KANE, Pa. – Riley Assalone tossed a five-inning no hitter facing just one batter over the minimum, as DuBois Central Catholic rolled to a 15-0, five-inning win at Kane.
Assalone hit the first batter she faced and then retired the final 15, including 12 by strikeouts.

The Lady Cardinals had 16 hits including a 4-for-4 performance from Macey Hanes and a 3-for-4 day by Jordy Frank.
