HS Softball Roundup: Clearfield Wins Pitchers’ Dual over Punxsutawney

Wednesday’s high school softball round.


CLEARFIELD, Pa. – Raeleigh Redden threw a four-hit shutout to lead Clearfield to a 3-0 win over visiting Punxsutawney.

Redden gave up four hits and a walk while striking out five for the Lady Bison.

Aspen Bishop and Sierra Jones backed up their pitcher with some offense with Bishop picking up a pair of hits including a double and adding an RBI. Jones had a double and an RBI.

Malty Cameron had two of Punxsutawney’s hits, both singles.

Allie Ishman was the tough-luck loser allowing three runs on six hits while striking out six.


STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Abby Carl, Megan Schimp and Paige Aaron all had multiple-hit games, as Clarion-Limestone won the first game of its two-different teams doubleheader, 14-4 in five innings, over visiting Sheffield.

Carl was 3-for-3 and was on base four times after also getting hit by a pitch with a three-run triple in the third inning and three runs scored.

Schimp was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, and Aaron was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, a double and four RBIs.

Sadie Mahle also went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored for the Lady Lions.

Claire Pierson scored a pair of runs for Sheffield.


STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Sadie Rudesyle threw a five-inning no-hitter allowing just one base runner on an error to lead Clarion to a 10-0 win over rival Clarion-Limestone.

Rudesyle struck out four and didn’t walk anyone in getting the win.

Offensively for the Lady Cats, Alexis Constantino and Maya Thornton each had a pair of hits with Constantino going 2-for-3 with a run scored and Thornton going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Sidney Kiser drove in a pair of runs for Clarion going 1-for-1 with a walk and two runs scored, and Carly Best was also 1-for-1 with a walk and a run scored meaning the bottom four in the Lady Cats lineup combined to go 6-for-8 with two walks, six runs scored and three RBIs.

Anna Reed also added a pair of RBIs and was 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Alyssa Kiser took the loss for C-L, which was playing the second game of a two-game, two-different-teams doubleheader.


TIONESTA, Pa. – Alyssa Burkett tossed a 3-inning no-hitter, as Redbank Valley beat Forest Area, 18-0, in three innings.

Burkett walked just one and struck out all nine of her out in the quick game.

Redbank Valley had eight hits and took advantage of eight walks scoring 01 run in the second inning along with five in the first and three in the third.

Lexi Holt had three hits for the Lady Bulldogs, while Kara Hicks and Burkett had doubles.
