Icy Road Conditions Lead to Crash in Perry Township

PERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say icy road conditions led to a crash that occurred in Perry Township on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, around 4:19 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 74-year-old Sally A. Travis, of Punxsutawney, was operating a 2008 Kia Optima, traveling south on State Route 36 just south of Sprinkle Mills Road in Perry Township, Jefferson County.

Police say Travis lost control due to icy road conditions and struck a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, operated by 19-year-old Garrett L. Smith, of Punxsutawney, that was traveling north on State Route 36.

Smith, Travis, and Travis’s passenger, 68-year-old Gordon L. Schaberl, of Punxsutawney, were all wearing seat belts, and no injuries were reported.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
