Icy Roads Cause One-Vehicle Accident in Union Township

state_policeUNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police responded to a one-vehicle accident on DuBois Rockton Road in Union Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, at 8:34 a.m. December 9, 19-year-old Garrett M. France, of DuBois, was traveling northbound in a 1997 Ford Mustang.

France was attempting to negotiate a left curve in the roadway when the vehicle hit a patch of ice and traveled off the roadway on the right side.

France brought the vehicle back onto the roadway and spun in a counter-clockwise rotation across the roadway before striking a cement culvert on the left side of the road with the right door.

After making contact with the culvert, the vehicle struck 2 mailboxes slid through the front yard of a residence.

The vehicle came to final rest in the yard facing east.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Mottman’s Towing.

France was wearing his seat belt and sustained no injuries in the crash
