WASHINGTON, D.C. (EYT) – Incumbent U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R) was re-elected to his second term.
According to unofficial election results, Toomey, 55, defeated third party candidate Edward T. Clifford III (Libertarian) and Democratic candidate Kathleen McGinty.
A total of 34 of the 100 seats were up for regular election.
Those elected to the U.S. Senate in the 34 regular elections on November 8, 2016, will begin their six-year terms on January 3, 2017.
Other State Offices
Pennsylvania Attorney General
Josh Shapiro (D) defeated John Rafferty (R) in the Pennsylvania Attorney General election.
Shapiro has been a Montgomery County commissioner since 2011.
Pennsylvania Treasurer
Joseph Torsella (D) defeated current State Treasurer Otto Voit (R) and Third Party candidates James Babb (Libertarian) and Kristin Combs (Green).
Torsella was a former U.S. Representative to the United Nations for Management and Reform.
Torsella’s campaign website points to his innovations and successes in prior offices and states his support of government transparency, “smart policy, fiscal responsibility, and public integrity.”
Pennsylvania Auditor
Incumbent Eugene DePasquale (D) defeated John Brown (R) and third party candidates Roy A. Minet (Libertarian) and John J. Sweeney (Green) in the Pennsylvania Auditor election.
