Investigation of Heroin, Cocaine Distribution Leads to Charges Against 15 in Western Pa.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Yesterday Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane’s office announced 15 individuals have been criminally charged for allegedly dealing heroin and cocaine, among other substances, in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.

The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation, the Arnold Police Department, the New Kensington Police Department, the Tarentum Borough Police Department and members of the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force.

Investigators who worked on the investigation also are part of a multi-county Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force assembled to target those dealing heroin in western Pennsylvania.

The investigation has been ongoing for approximately one year. Undercover investigators worked with confidential informants to identify those dealing drugs in the New Kensington, Arnold and Tarentum areas.

In many instances, controlled purchases were arranged in which informants purchased heroin and cocaine from the defendants who were subsequently charged. The defendants charged are being sought today on active arrest warrants as investigators take part in a collaborative sweep in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.

In addition to the law enforcement agencies listed above, others assisting in today’s sweep are the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Harrison Township Police Department, troopers from Pennsylvania State Police Troop A and the Pennsylvania State Police Organized Crime Unit.

Attorney General Kane thanked all investigators and assisting agencies for their work on this investigation.

The suspects charged in connection with this investigation will prosecuted by the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office.
