Iwan Worokey

Iwan Worokey, 97, of Brockway, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015, at Highland View Nursing Home in Brockway, Pa.

Iwan was a guest at Highland View Nursing Home in Brockway, Pa., and lived his entire life in Brockway from the age of 40.

Iwan was born on August 27, 1917. He was an immigrant from the Ukraine coming over on a boat sponsored by the Presbyterian Church in Brockway, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rozalia Zavis. They were married for over 60 years.

He worked for Brockway Glass in Brockway, Pa.

He was a member of the Brockway Presbyterian Church.

Iwan loved music up until the time of his death and was known at Highland View as the life of the party where they enjoyed him always dancing. He loved dancing.

Iwan also loved being outside, chasing deer, squirrels, and chipmunks. He also loved cars and working on them, but most of all, he dearly loved his children.

Iwan is survived by two daughters, Christine A. Worokey, of Brockway, and Catherine.

He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Iwan was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a daughter, and brother and sisters.

Private services for Iwan were held by the family.

Interment will be at Temple Cemetery in Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.

Memorials can be made to Brockway Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements were made by McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, Pa.
