Jack Ray Hawk

jack hawk obitJack Ray Hawk, 83, of Brookville, formerly of Knox, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2015 at the Brookville Hospital.

He was born on January 10, 1933 in Rimersburg; the son of Clyde S. and Viola P. Shaffer Hawk. Jack graduated from Union High School in 1951. He then graduated from Williamsport Trade School as a Machinery Repairman.

Jack is a veteran of the Army, serving from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He married Maryann Aljoe on May 21, 1982, and she survives. Jack worked at the O-I Glass Plant in Clarion for 34 years as a Machinist. He was of the Protestant Faith. Jack was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion both of Clarion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially ice fishing at Kahle Lake, and he loved gardening, flowers, and vegetables.

Jack is survived by his wife, two sons, David S. Hawk and wife Pam of Corsica and Steven E. Hawk and wife Kelley of Brookville, one step son, William J. Menteer and wife Janet of Florida, one step daughter, Tracy A. Hetrick of Saint Petersburg, PA, a daughter-in-law, Cindy Menteer of Strattanville, four grandchildren, Heidi Hawk, Tyler Hawk, Jessica Dembo, and Andrew Hawk, four step grandchildren, Amber Menteer, Nikki Rawson, Ryan Menteer, and Hanna Hetrick, three great grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, Eunie Hawk of Rimersburg and Maxine Hawk of Brookville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a step son, John Menteer, three brothers, Oren L. Hawk, Chester W. Hawk, and Vaughn P. Hawk, two sisters, Lois A. Hawk and Helen Thomas.

Military Honors will be accorded be the American Legion Post #66 at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday in the Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.

Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. in the Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephanie Weaver, pastor of the Sligo Presbyterian Church. Interment will be held in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
