James A. Reed Jr.

James A. Reed Jr.James A. Reed Jr., 47, of Albion, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born May 7, 1968 in Wadena, MN, he was the son of James A. Reed Sr. and Mary M. (Siedl) Reed.  They survive and reside in Bellwood, PA.

Mr. Reed was a graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson, MN.  He was a United States Army veteran.

He married the former Jennifer Robertson on April 30, 2011 in Ridgway, PA; she survives.

Mr. Reed started his 25 year career with the PA Corrections at SCI Smithfield.  Throughout his career he also worked at SCI Greene, SCI Forest, SCI Pittsburgh, and SCI Benner Twp.; before finally ending up at SCI Albion where he was employed at the time of his death.

He was a member of the Ridgway VFW.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, and his interests included hunting, guns, and hockey.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Reed is survived by his daughter, Taylor Barnett; his son, Jackson Reed; his brother, Jason Reed, of Duncansville; and his sister, Jill Reed, of Bellwood.  Also surviving are  a brother-in-law and his wife, Ken Robertson Jr. and Nancy, of Turtlecreek and a sister-in-law and her husband, Heather Kunselman and Andy, of Ridgway.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home at 140 Cherry Street in Marienville, PA.  A memorial service will be held in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 12 PM with Pastor Mark Cantaral (First Presbyterian Church in Ridgway) and Rev. Christopher Barnes (St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Marienville) officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donation be made to a memorial fund for Mr. Reed’s son, Jackson, at the Mountain Laurel Federal Credit Union; 413 South Michael Street; St. Mary’s, PA 15857.
