James “Jim” Chester Greeley

James Greeley obitJames “Jim” Chester Greeley, age 68, of Coyote Drive in Corsica, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg, PA.

He was born on August 3, 1947, in Brookville, PA, to the late Robert Chester and Phyllis Louise (Alford) Greeley. On December 25, 1964, he married Diane Lee (Hartzell) Greeley, who survives him.

Jim retired as a master carpenter but has an extensive history working with heavy machinery. He worked on some of the major Interstate Highways in Pennsylvania and he also worked in coal stripping. He was good with his hands and had the talent of being able to figure out how to work on or fix just about anything.

Jim was a Christian man with a strong faith in God. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. More so he loved being outdoors and would spend time feeding the deer, bear, and birds. He loved to laugh and to make other people laugh; it was easy for him to turn almost any situation into light hearted fun. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He had the ability to discipline using only kindness and love and would get the expected results from leading his family with those values. He had a strong will but in short, Jim was a good man.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 1 son; Robert “Ross” (Cathy) Greeley of Corsica, PA; 1 daughter-in-law, Margaret “Peg” Greeley of Richardsville, PA; 8 siblings, Sandy (Tom) Martin, Jo Anna Plyler, Bonnie Shaffer, Diane (Paul) Ananea, Charlotte (John) Hammer, Jay Greeley, Wade (Jennifer) Greeley, Ward (Terri) Greeley; 11 grandchildren, Samantha “Blyu” Palmer, Dakota G. Greeley, Justin (fiancé Maggie) Greeley, Adam J. Greeley, Brandon L. (fiancé Samantha) Greeley, Ashley N. (Timothy) Allshouse, Lisa Lapolt, Heather White, Amanda Huey, America Anderson; 11 great-grandchildren, Makenna, Vanessa, Caleb, Hayden, Carson, Dixie, Ashley, Cody, Raven, Kitara, and Maverick.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by 1 son, Harold “Ted” Greeley, and 1 sister, Kathleen (Vince) Himes.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 17, 2016, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016, also at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, beginning at 11:00am.
