Janet H. Dennison

Janet H. Dennison, 94, of Brookville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on May 18, 2015.

She was born on May 27, 1920, the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Marie Hartland of New Castle, Pennsylvania.

She attended New Castle High School and later obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Grove City College.

She married Donald J. Dennison on September 6, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2002.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers James Hartland and Benjamin Earl Hartland.

She is survived by four children, Carole M. (Patrick Mullen) Dennison of Easley, South Carolina; John C. (Christine) Dennison II, of Brookville, Pennsylvania; James D. (Heidi) Dennison of Brookville, Pennsylvania; and Lisa (Henry) Corigliano of Rochester, New York, as well as thirteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

After graduating from college, she worked for U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh for several years. Following her marriage, she moved to Brookville where she raised her family. She worked intermittently as a secretary/bookkeeper at her husband’s law practice and taught business skills and data processing at the Brookville High School in the mid-1960’s, and was later employed by the school district to handle data processing and payroll.

She and her husband Don Dennison loved to travel and visited all 50 states as well as many foreign countries. Janet especially enjoyed spending the winter months with Don in Cudjoe Key, Florida. Janet was an avid reader and also loved to garden. She was active in the Brookville Presbyterian Church where she was a member for more than 50 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Friends will be received on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 12 PM to 1:30 PM at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Brookville, Pa. 15825 and a funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the Brookville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nathan Royster officiating.

Interment will be at Beechwoods Cemetery, Washington Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
