Jean Marie Bojalad

Jean Marie Bojalad, age 72 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Christ the King Manor.

Born on August 3, 1949 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Roger Charles and Genevieve Marie (Dahrouge) Bojalad.

Jean was a 1967 graduate of Central Christian High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mercyhurst College in 1971 and a Master of Education Degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 1976.

She was a member of the Friendship Hose Company #2 Ladies Auxiliary, the Penn State Alumni Association, the Mercyhurst Alumni Association and Christ the King Auxiliary.

Jean grew up and lived most of her life in the “Flats” of DuBois.

She was extremely proud of her ethnic Lebanese heritage and enjoyed working in her grandparent’s store (Dahrouges) located on the corner of Main Street and West Long Ave in DuBois.

Jean was the family historian; keeping detailed records of everyone and everything.

She was the first person in her family to attend college to become a teacher, having taught at St. Catherine Grade School and eventually become principal of Saints Cosmas & Damian in Punxsutawney, PA.

She retired from the DuBois Area School District as a high school history teacher.

She was passionate about history, politics and her students.

She remained life long friends with many of the students she taught and cheered on during their high school sports careers.

As a young adult Jean spent summers traveling throughout Europe.

She enjoyed attending rock concerts, going to the movies and watching sports, especially golf.

Jean was affectionately known as “The Principal” by her close family and friends and her “Raise the Jolly Roger” text messages after a Pittsburgh Pirates win will be missed.

Her ultimate love was for her family.

Her life centered around her brother, niece, nephews and their families.

Her generosity, kind-hearted spirit, smile and famous eyerolls will be greatly missed.

Jean is survived by her brother (Robert “Boj” J. Bojalad and his wife Barb of DuBois, PA) a niece, (Kristen Vida & her husband Greg of DuBois, PA), two nephews (Robert Bojalad & his wife Shelly of DuBois, PA, and Matthew Bojalad & his wife Bailey of Southampton, PA and two great nieces (Morgan Bojalad & Genevieve Vida) & three great nephews (Gavin, Oliver and Elias Bojalad).

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Matias Quimno as celebrant.

Burial will take place in St. Catherine Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
