Jefferson County Man Fires Handgun Near Victims During Domestic Dispute

PERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to a domestic incident that occurred early Sunday morning at a residence along Valier Drive in Perry Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, around 2:44 a.m. on August 13, PSP Punxsutawney were dispatched to the above-described residence for a domestic dispute that occurred in the yard. It was discovered that an argument ensued between a known, 50-year-old Valier man and his wife.

Police say when a bystander attempted to step between them and break up the fight, the known Valier man went into his house and returned with a semi-automatic 9mm handgun. He then fired two rounds into the ground near the victims – a 57-year-old Brookville man; a 54-year-old Punxsutawney woman; a 35-year-old Rochester Mills woman; a 45-year-old Valier woman; and a 30-year-old Rochester Mills man.

The Valier man was subsequently placed under arrest for reckless endangering, simple assault, and other related charges.

Charges were filed in District Court 54-3-01.

The name of the accused was not released.
