The charges stem from an investigation into a case of identity theft that occurred in late 2018.

According to a criminal complaint, on October 27, 2018, Sara Dawn McClafferty opened a Chase credit card account using a known woman’s name.

McClafferty allegedly utilized the credit card for multiple transactions over the course of two months totaling $2,769.46.

The complaint notes that search warrants were served on McClafferty’s First Energy and Sprint Wireless accounts and found the card was used to pay bills for both accounts in November 2018.

The charges were filed against McClafferty on November 19, 2019, through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office.
