Jefferson County Woman Flown to Hospital after Car Goes Airborne, Crashes into 2 Houses

police_line_11CORSICA, Pa. (EYT) – A 22-year-old woman was flown to a Pittsburgh area hospital following a one-vehicle crash along Route 322 in Corsica Borough early this morning.

Punxsutawney-based State Police say the crash occurred around 2:05 a.m. when Hannah G. McElhinney, 22, of Sigel, lost control of her westbound 2000 Jeep Cherokee while attempting to negotiate a left turn on Route 322 near Olean Road.

According to police, McElhinney’s vehicle exited the north side of the roadway and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to become airborne.

It then continued traveling south, at which point the passenger side front of the vehicle struck a residence.

Police say the Jeep rotated counterclockwise, and the rear of the vehicle then struck the porch of another residence.

McElhinney’s vehicle came to a rest approximately 20 feet south of Route 322, between the two houses.

McElhinney was flown to UPMC Presbyterian with unknown injuries.

State Police were assisted by STAT MedEvac, Corsica VFD, Jefferson County EMS, and Leadbetter Towing.
