Jefferson County Courthouse 150th Anniversary Celebration Today

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – The Sesquicentennial Celebration of the Jefferson County Courthouse is being held in Brookville today.

The activities for the big event started out with an art exhibit that runs all week.

Courthouse tours will be running all day today, Friday, September 13, showcasing the history and beauty of the courthouse.

The main events kick off at noon with the dedication of the World War II Memorial.

The Punxsutawney Area High School Band will play music from 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

After that, the guest speakers begin.

Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson; Associate Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Kevin M. Dougherty; Moriah Hathaway from Governor Tom Wolf’s office; Representative Cris Dush; Judge John H. Foradora; the county commissioners; and a representative from the Brookville Borough Council will speak to the community.

Following the speakers at 7:00 p.m., there will be a performance of the play “The Trials of Judge Heath,” written by Brookville Borough Council member Randy Bartley.

The day ends with the lighting of the bell tower at 9:00 p.m.
