Jesse Duane Guthrie

Jesse Duane Guthrie, age 61, of Brookville PA, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh PA.

He was born on October 15, 1954, in Brookville, PA, to the late Clyde Herman and Beatrice Pearl (Lowman) Guthrie.

On August 13, 1983, he married Melinda “Mindy” (Thrush) Guthrie, in Brookville, PA. Mindy survives him.

Jess started, owned, and operated Guthrie Contracting for about 35 years.

Working was his passion and he took great pride in the projects he did.

His favorite pass time outside of work was golfing; he golfed any chance he could.

Jess enjoyed racing and was a big Steelers fan. Most importantly he loved his grandchildren and loved being able to spend time with them.

Jess had a personal and special request for those who plan to attend his services; he did not want anyone wearing suits, or dressing up.

He lived his life in jeans and t-shirts and would like to keep it that way.

In addition to his wife, Jess is survived by 2 sons, Michael (Nicole) Guthrie of Brookville, PA; Aron (Autumn) Guthrie of Brookville, PA; 1 daughter, Jennifer Guthrie; his niece, Tiffany Straitiff of Knoxdale, PA; 1 brother, Walter (Carol) Guthrie of Penfield, PA; 1 granddaughter, McKenzie Guthrie; 4 grandsons, Hoyt, Maverick, Mason, and Maddox Guthrie, all of Brookville.

In addition to his parents, Jess is preceded in death by 1 son, Joshua Lee Guthrie.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, from 1-3pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will immediately follow the viewing, beginning at 3pm, with the Rev. Ken Eddy officiating.
