Joanne L. Raybuck

joanneJoanne L. Raybuck, 80 of Fairmount City, died on Tuesday evening, May 13, at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville. She was born on March 14, 1934 in Deanville and daughter of Harris B. and Phyllis A. (Shindledecker) George. She was married on August 26, 1950 to William H. Raybuck and he survives.

She was a homemaker and she decorated wedding cakes for many years. She taught cake decorating and candy making at Vo-Tech for 12 years. Joanne joined the Deanville Baptist Church on June 29, 1947 which is now the Springside Baptist Church. She was very active in the church as Sunday School secretary, a teacher of the Beginners, Seniors, and Adult Ladies classes, music chairman, sang in the choir, and served on the Hospitality Committee and Flower Committee. She was also active in her community as a Republican Committee Woman in Limestone Township, a 4 – H Leader and served on the American Red Cross Board.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters; Vicki Raybuck of Roseville, Karen Shovestull and her husband Andy of Lucinda and Rhonda Thompson and her husband Bob of Slippery Rock, a son, Ken Raybuck and his wife Karen of Fairmount City, seven grandchildren; Leah Ellenberger, Luke Shovestull, Doug Raybuck, Tim Raybuck, Tyler Raybuck, Jesse Thompson and Johannah Thompson, three great grandchildren; Molly, Madison and Jackson, four sisters; Agatha Hill and husband Frank of Mission Viejo, CA, Nancy Allen and husband Jim of Distant, Frances George of Solvang, CA and Bonnie Pence and husband Ernie of Distant and one brother, Robert George and his wife Nancy of Deanville.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, from 1 – 4 and 6 – 9 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, May 17, at the Springside Baptist Church at 11:00 am with Pastor Tim Tucker officiating.

There will be viewing at the church prior to the funeral service from 10 – 11.

Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery in Frogtown.
