John C. Smith

Smith John CJohn C. Smith age 80 of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at home after a lengthy illness.

The family celebrates his final journey to his heavenly home.

He was born July 20, 1935 in Oak Ridge, Pennsylvania.

He was an Awesome Husband, Father, PaPa, Friend, & most importantly, a Servant of his Heavenly Father.

Selfless, and always thinking, and doing for others. Passionate in his discovery for truth whether in the spiritual or physical realms. He and Barb co-founded The Freedom of Choice in Cancer Therapy group, in Butler, where he gave much of his time and heart to find a non-conventional treatment, for whatever ailed them for over 40 years. Inventor of the H2Only Water Distiller. John’s favorite hobby was video taping celebrations, special occasions, and BHS Wrestling Matches. He worked at Pullman Standard in the paint department for 25 years. He was a veteran on the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 and the Army Reserves from 1970 to 1982.

John is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Davis) Smith, whom he married August 30, 1958; one daughter, Diane Sheehan; one son, Jeffrey C. Smith; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters; and three brothers.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Smith, who passed away on September 5, 1964; and also by his son, Gregory A. Smith, who passed away on September 8, 1985.

Friends will be received Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 200 East North Street, Butler, PA, with Pastor Eric Park and Pastor Tim Goodman of First United Methodist Church officiating.

Private burial will take place in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Oak Ridge, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Video/Audio Program, 200 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
