John E. Hatten

John E Hatten2John E. Hatten, 65 of Brookville, PA, died Thursday December 18,  2014 at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA.

Born August 17, 1949 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Harold and Geraldine Ferguson Hatten.

John was a graduate of Brookville Area High School.  He was a veteran, serving with the Army in Vietnam.  On December 17, 2002 John was married to Trudy in Brookville. She survives.  John was employed by the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad as a conductor until his retirement in June of 2008.

John was a member of the F.O.E. 983 in Brookville.  He enjoyed playing pool, nascar racing, and smoking cigars.

Along with his wife, John is survived by a son; John Hatten of Brookville; a daughter Kristi (George) Schroeder of Brookville; two stepsons, Patrick (Cassie) Simpson of Mashpee MA, and Shawn (Anita) Simpson of Summerville; a sister, Claire Hetrick of New Castle; and six grandchildren; Tait, Skyelyr, Sarah, Lissa, Patrick, and Catherine.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Harold Hatten.

His family will receive friends on Saturday December 27, 2014, from  10 – 11 am at the Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong FD, corner of Broad St. and First Ave., Summerville.  A memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
