John Harley Dill

John Harley Dill, Sr., 69, of Punxsutawney died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born October 4, 1945 in Oakland, California, a son of the late John Mell and Betty Ann (Pry) Dill.

On May 29, 1964 he married the former Theresa Ann Hruby, they just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversay. Theresa survives and resides in Punxsutawney.

Mr. Dill proudly served his country in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam Era, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with a bronze star, and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal.

He enjoyed collecting stamps.

In addition to his wife Theresa, he is survived by three children, John H. Dill, Jr. and wife Lou Ann of Reynoldsville, Alan Dill and wife Donna of Valier, and daughter, Carol and Ken Fugate of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren, Jessica, Cody, and Kristen Dill, Cassandra and Kaylee Fugate; two brothers, Robert Dill of Pittsburgh and David Dill of Delaware; one brother inlaw, Paul Peart of Florida; and a sister inlaw, Marie Makoski.

There will be no visitation. All arrangements are private and under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
