John “Jack” W. Kroft

John “Jack” W. Kroft, 90, of Rockton, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home.

Born April 12, 1927, in Nanty Glo, PA, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Gertrude (Cole) Kroft.

He married Julia (Maloney) Kroft on September 6, 1948, in DuBois. She survives.

Jack graduated from Sandy High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Murray’s Ford as a detailer. He was a lifetime member of the Rockton Firehall as well as a member of the American Legion and St. Catherine of Siena Church. Jack was one of the last surviving members of the Loyal Order of the Ruptured Ducks. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by three children, Richard (Betsy) Kroft, of Bedford, Susan Yonushonis, of DuBois, and Debra Kroft, of Rockton; eight grandchildren, Bill, Sue, and Jennifer Kroft, Julie Saunders, and Jill, Charlie, Scott, and Joe Yonushonis; as well as ten great-grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, February 13, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. A funeral service will follow Tuesday’s visitation at 11:30 a.m. with Msgr. Richard Seifer officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Interment will be in Rockton Cemetery.
