John K. Straitiff III


John K. Straitiff III, 74, of Treasure Lake, PA, formerly of Reynoldsville, PA, died Sunday, August 15, 2021, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.

He was born on February 24, 1947, to the late Joseph and Yvonne (Henderson) Straitiff in Punxsutawney, PA.

He graduated from Reynoldsville – Sykesville High School with the class of 1965.

John married Linda Porter on August 24, 1968, in Big Run, PA, they shared fifty-three wonderful years of marriage; Linda survives him.

He was a member of the John M. Reed Masonic Lodge, the Reynoldsville Elks Club, and the Treasure Lake Sportsman’s Club.

John was a man of many talents, but was best known locally as the owner of John’s Hardware in Reynoldsville, PA.

He started his career as a physics teacher, then received a Mechanical Engineering degree from Penn State. His work took him to many states.

He was also known for his beloved Model T, which he restored with his friend, Don Blauser.

John was hardworking and would offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by two sons; Joseph (Shelley) Straitiff of Oregon; John (Kenze Burkhart) Straitiff of Carlisle, PA; two granddaughters; Autumn and Eden Straitiff of Oregon; one sister, JoAnne Farley of Millersville, PA; and one brother-in-law, Scott (Roxanne Bhe-Frantz) Porter of Florida.

Services will be held privately to the family and have been entrusted to the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851.

Final interment will take place at McClure Cemetery, Big Run, Jefferson Co., PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Gateway Humane Society, 1211 Airport Rd., Falls Creek, PA 15840, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
