John Leroy Harris

John Leroy Harris, of Brookville, PA, passed away during the afternoon hours of Tuesday, June 29, 2021, while at his home.

He was born on March 15, 1938, to the late Charles Leroy and Mary Adeline (Bowser) Harris in Brookville. John attended Punxsutawney High School and honorably served his country with the United States Army.

John married Sara “Elaine” Lucas on May 29, 1959, in Worthville, PA; Elaine survives him. He had a long career at the Brookville Glove Factory, where he worked for over thirty years.

John enjoyed many things in life, a few favorites include word searches, jigsaw puzzles, and card games. He also loved hunting, a passion he shared with his sons, Tim and Chris. John was also well known for his love of gardening. He was an avid sports fan; he loved all sports, but his favorite team was the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by three children; Timothy John (Karen) Harris of Hazen, PA; Grace Elizabeth (Tom) Snyder of Rossville, GA; Christopher Michael (Tina) Harris of Mimms, FL; one brother; Mickey Harris; one sister; Nancy (Walt) Winters; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to his parent, John was preceded in passing by three brothers; Delvin Harris; Robert Harris; Lester Harris; and one sister; Mae Harris.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 4pm to 7pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 2, 2021, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11am and officiated by Pastor J. Ray Baker. Military honors will be rendered by the Brookville Area Honor Guard. Interment will take place at St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Ramsaytown, Jefferson Co., PA.
