John M. Boboige

John M. Boboige, 90, Sykesville, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022, at DuBois Nursing Home.

He was born May 16, 1932 in Sykesville.

The son of the late John & Mary (Amshey) Boboige Yanek.

He married Marlene E. (Gatesman) Boboige, she survives in Sykesville.

He was a graduate of Sykesville High School.

He was in the Army during the Korean War.

After attending Barber school in Erie, he owned and operated Boboige Barber Shop in Lawrence Park and then was a co-owner of Sykesville Distributing for 15 years before retiring from Deposit Bank as a maintenance man.

John leaves behind his wife Marlene, four children, John (Marnie) Boboige, II, of Pulaski, Pa, Kathleen (Bryan) Ellenberger of Luthersburg, Becky (Pat) Egan, Bridgeville, PA, and Tracy (Michael)Crissman of Brookville, two brothers Joseph “Moe” Yanek of Sykesville, William “Bill” (Yvonne) Yanek of Reynoldsville, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by four sisters, Eileen Jakopac, Mary Ann Kos, Helen Danch and Margaret Danch, and two brothers Carl Yanek and Robert Yanek and a grandson Brian Crissman.

Friends will be received on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 6pm until 8pm and on Saturday, from 9:30am until 10:30am at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 11am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
