John Patrick Miller

John Patrick Miller, 79, died peacefully while holding the hands of his family on November 28, 2014.

Born on March 16, 1935 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late John Paul and Mary Lucy Augustyn Miller. Formerly of Gibsonia, PA; LaPlata, MD; and Little River, SC; he is survived by his loving wife Peggy of 54 years; daughter, Monica L. Dorsch (Dean) of Harmony, PA; son, Mark D. Miller (Diane) of Alexandria, VA; sisters, Evelyn M. Miller and Barbara Karolick Norris of Punxsutawney, PA; grandchildren, Tyler J. and Stephanie M. Dorsch, Jennifer A. and Jake T. Miller; and six nieces.

While enjoying retirement in the Carolinas, Jack was a member of two choirs at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, a proud member of the Calabash American Legion, and loved the game of golf. After serving in the Army in the 1950’s, he was employed at Herbick and Held Printing in Pittsburgh for 25 years, and then as a proofreader for the United States Senate Office of the Legislative Counsel in Washington, DC until 2003.

Visitation was beautifully arranged at the Lee Funeral Home in Little River, SC, and a guestbook is available at www.leefhandcrematory.com. A funeral Mass was celebrated and the St. Brendan’s Choir sang in his remembrance at Our Lady Star of the Sea in North Myrtle Beach, SC on December 2, 2014.

A committal service and entombment will be held at the Chapel of the Angels Mausoleum in historic Allegheny Cemetery in Lawrenceville, PA on December 6, 2014 at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, Jack wished for memorials to be made to the American Heart Association or to the groundbreaking building campaign of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic High School, 3501 North Kings Hwy, Suite 102, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
