John Raymond Volpe

1611515_profile_pic[1]John Raymond Volpe, 89, a 15-year resident of Arnold and previously of Lanham, MD, passed away on June 21, 2015 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC).

Born on April 12, 1926 in Brockway, PA to the late Alexander and Julia Volpe, John graduated from Brockway-Snyder High School. He served as a seaman in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After initially working for the B&O Railroad in Pennsylvania, John changed career paths and became a plumber. He went to work for Magnolia Plumbing and later for the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center from which he retired.

John was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He enjoyed reading and watching all sports events on television. His greatest passion though was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

John was preceded in death in 1988 by his beloved wife, Yolanda Volpe. He is survived by two sons, Stephen Volpe of DuBois, PA and David Volpe of Arnold, MD; two daughters, Renee VanWie of Stevensville, MD and Kim Abdelaziz of Homer Glen, IL; one sister, Catherine Gilkerson of Clearwater, FL, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10:30AM. until a Mass of Christian Burial is offered at 11:30AM on Thursday, June 25 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AAMC Foundation, 2001 Medical Parkway, Sajak #550, Annapolis, MD 21401.
