John “Tom” Palumbo

Palumbo John TomJohn “Tom” Palumbo, age 79, Walnut Avenue, DuBois PA, a prominent well-known businessman, died Friday, October 2, 2015 at Christ the King Manor following an extended illness.

Born February 16, 1936 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Dominic & Margaret (Punchious) Palumbo.

On October 9, 1963, he married Gloria (Bevak) Palumbo. She survives.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and served during the Korean War.

He was the owner and operator of Tom Palumbo & Sons Meat Market in Penfield and Clearfield. Previous to that, he was a partner in Palumbo’s Meat Market in DuBois and St. Marys. He has been in the meat business most of his life.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where in the past, he was always very active in the St. Michael Polish Festival. He was active in DuBois Little League for many years. He was an assistant to the Little League District Administrator for many years. He was one of the founders of DuBois Senior Little League and enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons play during Little League and Senior League All Star Seasons. He was also a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Polish Citizen’s Club, and the Olympic Athletic Club. He also enjoyed polka music.

“Tom” is survived by one son, Robert J. Palumbo and his wife, Lisa of Penfield, PA, and a daughter, Nicole Palumbo of DuBois, PA, two sisters, Theresa Hinderliter of New Columbia, PA, Patty Sebring of CA, two brothers, Theodore Palumbo and his wife, Shirley of Reynoldsville, PA and Joseph Palumbo and his wife, Luana of DuBois, PA. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Brianna, Brandon, Nathan, Janessa and Jonathan Palumbo.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Adeline Naugle and Marjorie Burkett and a son, Thomas D. Palumbo.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 10 A.M. from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Kresinski and Fr. Ross Miceli con-celebrating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.

Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
