Born August 11, 1947 in DuBois, he was the son of the late J. Willard and Alice (Yarger) Sr.
He married Janet R. Shaffer on June 17, 1972 in DuBois. She survives.
John graduated from DuBois Area High School in 1965 and attended Penn State University. He was employed by Simpson Communications. His hobbies included sport motorcycles and camping. He loved spending time with his beloved family. John attended Bethany Covenant Church.
John served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by two daughters, Cathy Sue (Donald) Kuntz of DuBois and Karen Mae (Donnie) Klingensmith of Luthersburg; five grandchildren, Isaiah Seyler, Corey, Rachael, and Anna London, and Aaron Klingensmith; a sister, Marie (Richard) Long of Columa, Michigan, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, March 28th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, March 29th from 12-1 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc.
A funeral service will following Wednesday’s visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel with Reverends Barry Anthony and Donald Ostrom officiating.
Interment will be in Luthersburg-Union Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
