Joseph J. Caltagarone Jr.

joe C (2) (1)Joseph J. Caltagarone, Jr., 63, of Reynoldsville, died on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at his home in Reynoldsville, Pa.

Born Friday, February 6, 1953 in Du Bois, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph J. Caltagarone Sr. and the late Dorothy L. (Rapp) Caltagarone. He was the husband of Sarah A (DeLarme) Caltagarone.

He was a 1971 graduate of Jeff Tech. He was a retired miner, who worked from Knisley Coal for 25 years, Laurel Ridge Mines for 10 years, Sarah Mine, Somerset Mine for two years and in West Virgina Mines for one year. He also owned and operated Sarah’s Soft Serve for 15 years and the Bellamauro for 11 years. Additionally, he worked as a subcontractor for Acme Machine in Punxsutawney, Pa.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Reynoldsville, Pa., the Knights of Columbus and the Sons of Italy. He served on the Jefferson County Fair board for 20 years. He loved farming and target shooting with his grandkids.

Surviving are sons, Joseph J Caltagarone III (Edie) of Reynoldsville, Pa. and Eugene A Hedlund of Reynoldsville, Pa., daughter, Rachael Baronie (Shaun) of Reynoldsville, Pa., sisters, Rita Shaffer (Wayne) of Knoxdale , PA and Lena Caltagarone of Coal Port , Pa. and six grand children, Joey IV, Miley, Justin, Zaynah, Weston and one expected in September.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 607 East Main Street Reynoldsville, Pa., 15851 with Fr. Richard Tomasone and Rev. Ben DeLarme officiating.

Interment will be in Syphrit Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, Pa. Memorial contributions may be sent to Reynoldsville Community Association P.O. Box 53 Reynoldsville, Pa. 15851.
