Joseph M. Pearce

Joseph M. Pearce, 101, of 35 Borough Line Road, Falls Creek, Pa., passed away Friday, April 14, 2017.

Born Sept. 2, 1915, in Glen Campbell, Indiana County, Pa., he was a son of Elmer C. Pearce and Sarah A. Gillen. On Oct. 14, 1933, he was married to Helen V. James. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2005.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge.

Joseph was a coal miner and retired from Renovo Mines, Winkleman Coal Co.

Joseph was a member of the Church of God.

He was also a member of the VFW post #814 and American Legion Post #17, both of DuBois, and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by six sons: Charles R. Pearce of Brockway, Pa., Joseph A. Pearce of DuBois, Pa., William L. Pearce of DuBois, Pa., Douglas C. Pearce of Reynoldsville, Pa., David P. Pearce of Falls Creek, Pa., Ricky J. Pearce of DuBois, Pa.; two daughters, Karen B. Harry of Brockway, Pa., and Cathy E. Senior of Brockway, Pa.; 29 grandchildren, 37-great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter, Sharon J. McConnell; one granddaughter; and three brothers.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 17, at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., located at 206 Main St., Reynoldsville, Pa.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the funeral home with the Rev. David Nagele officiating.

Burial will be in Beechwoods Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the cemetery chapel.
