Joseph R. Zawislak


Joseph R. Zawislak, age 73 of DuBois, PA died Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home.

Born on July 10, 1948 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Leo “Zuber” and June (Haggerty) Zawislak.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he earned the Good Conduct Medal as well as the National Defense Service Medal serving as a Sergeant in the MAC (Military Airlift Command Special Operation) Unit.

He served in Europe during the Vietnam War.

Joe was a volunteer work activist for Homeland Security.

He was a member of the Polish American Veterans Association, the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Pulaski Club.

He is survived by one sister (Kathy Bowser and her husband Joe of DuBois, PA), an uncle (Gene Haggerty), one niece (Krista Frable), two nephews (Steven and Kevin Bowser), and eight great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 11 AM – 1 PM from the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 PM from the funeral home with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
