Josephine P. (Bailey) Travis

Josephine P. (Bailey) Travis, 92, of New Bethlehem, died early Friday morning, January 15, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh due to injuries sustained in an auto accident.

She was born on July 11, 1923 in Erie County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Majerik) Olesnanik. She was first married to Harvey Edward Bailey and he preceded her in death on December 30, 1995. She then married Harold R. Travis and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2003.

Josephine worked for Rola Manufacturing and attended the First Church of God in New Bethlehem, when she was able.

She is survived by a son, Harvey Eugene Bailey of Mars, a daughter, Nancy Houghton and her husband Dave of Hudson, New York, four grandchildren, Leah Millis and her husband Dan of Fairmount City, Dawn Rems of New York, Karen Hazlett and her husband Mark of Shippenville, and Travis Rems of Florida, six great grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret Peckelnicki and Patty Ball both of Erie, and three brothers, Andy Olesnanik of Columbus, Ohio, Carl Olesnanik and William Olesnanik both of Erie.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Meeder and three brothers, Joseph Olesnanik, John Olesnanik, and Steve Olesnanik.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 18, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 19, at 11:00 am at the First Church of God at 418 Brian Lane in New Bethlehem with Pastor John Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
