Joshua Neal Smith

SmithJoshua Neal “Mini” Smith, 18, Punxsutawney, died Friday, June 17, 2016, in Ocean City, M.D.

He was born May 15, 1998, in Indiana, Pa., a son of Linda Lien (Armagost) and Brian A. Smith, who survive.

He graduated in May with the Punxsutawney High School Class of 2016 where he was a member of the ski club, math club, and the varsity club. He played on the Tennis Team for Punxsutawney High School and also played in the Punxsutawney Soccer Association and Groundhog Little League.

Joshua was loving, funny, witty, carefree, reckless, and quite a prankster.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother Jacob William Smith of Punxsutawney and a sister Jadie Marie Smith of Punxsutawney; paternal grandparents, David A. Smith and wife Debbie of Punxsutawney and Karen DeBerry and husband Gary of Marion Center, Pa.; maternal grandparents, Neal and wife Thanh Armagost of Reynoldsville; a great paternal grandmother Betty H. Smith of Marion Center; an aunt Paula M. Quick of Punxsutawney; three uncles, Greg A. Smith and wife Lisa of Marion Center, Tu Armagost and wife Angie of Lithicum, M.D., and Brian Adamson and wife Elizabeth of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather William R. Smith and maternal great-grandparents Goldie and David Kinter.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the funeral home with Bhante Soma officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Joshua, may be made to the Josh Smith Memorial Playground Fund c/o Punxsutawney Area Community Foundation, 312 West Mahoning Street, Punxsutawney, Pa. 15767.
