Joyce Fryer Bish

bb824134-362d-4671-9635-593c6ccbfd79Joyce Fryer Bish, age 86, of Cary, NC formally of Summerville, PA died October 28, 2016 in Cary, NC. Born February 17, 1930 in Fairmount City, PA she was the daughter of David William Harrison Yoder and Ida May Smith Yoder.

She was married June 27, 1950 to William D. Fryer of Limestone Township, PA. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1987. She lived for many years in Summerville, PA. She was then married August 19, 1995 to Darrel E. Bish originally of Tanyard, PA (Mayport) and relocated to Yorba Linda, CA. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2012.

Mrs. Bish attended Hawthorn schools and graduated in 1948 from Clarion-Limestone High school. She worked at G C Murphy in Clarion, PA, Sylvania in Brookville, PA from 1948 to 1961 and Dan Smiths Candies in Brookville from 1974 to1991 and All of my Favorite Things from 1991 to 1995. She was a distributor of Dutchmaid clothing from mid-1960’s to 1979. After marriage to Darrel she worked as a cashier at B and B Pharmacy in Yorba Linda, CA from 1996 to 2007 when she retired.

As a child she attended the Hawthorn Evangelical United Brethren Church. From late 1960s she was active in the Summerville United Methodist Church. After marriage to Darrel she attended Faith Community Nazarene Church in Yorba Linda CA. After his death in 2012 she relocated to live with her daughter, Sheila, in Cary, NC and attended Trinity Community Church – an Evangelical Free Church.

She enjoyed people, working in retail, cooking and crafting and singing hymns.

Survivors include a daughter Sheila Fryer Marshall of Cary, NC and husband Jim; grandchildren Benjamin Marshall and wife Caroline of Cary, NC and Amanda Marshall of Cary, NC; step sons Larry, Harold and Randy Bish and their extended family of Orange County, CA. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her two brothers Rev. Ray Yoder and Edgar Yoder and her four sisters Lucille Carlson, Helen Adams, Maretta Smith and Mae Truitt.

Viewing will be held from 1 – 3 pm on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St. Apex, NC with memorial service to follow. In Pennsylvania, viewing will be held from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St. Summerville, PA with the funeral, interment and funeral dinner, Friday, November 4 with viewing at 10 am and service at 11 am at the Summerville United Methodist Church, 154 W. Penn St., Summerville, PA. Interment will be in the Westview Cemetery, Summerville, PA.
