Juanita R. "Nita" Egan

Juanita R. “Nita” Egan, 78, of Spruce Street, Brookville, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Montifore Hospital, in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Born on May 27, 1934, in Brookville, “Nita” was the daughter of the late Clarence Vandervort and Hazel Marie (Gardlock) Vandervort.

She worked as a candy maker for Dan Smith’s Candies in Brookville, Pa., and volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels of Brookville.

Nita is survived by a daughter and two sons: Kelly McAninch (Tim) of Brookville, Pa.; Thomas Allshouse of DuBois, Pa.; and Raymond Allshouse of Texas.

Nita is also survived by three sisters and a brother: Betty Mauk of Brookville, Pa.; Joyce Murphey of Brookville, Pa.; Virginia Smith (Ed) of Corsica, Pa.; and Bob Vandervort of Brookville, Pa.

She has five surviving grandchildren: Amy Mu; Raymond Lee Allshouse; Jeremy Allshouse; Madison McAninch; and Kaylee McAninch; and one great-grandchild, Emily Mu.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends will be received at the McKinney Funeral Home located at 345 Main Street in Brookville, on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at McKinney Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy McConville officiating.

Interment will be in at St. John’s Cemetery (Windy Hill), in Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
