Julia June Shaffer, 101, of Shaffer Rd. Brookville (Richardsville, Pa.) died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at her daughter’s home were she resided since 2004.
Born June 31, 1913 in Richardsville, Pa., she was the daughter of Pearl Cyphert and Harriet Abelina Van Norman Cyphret.
She was married for 69 years to Ward M. “Bill” Shaffer who passed away on May 23, 2005.
Julia was a Homemaker. She was the oldest member of the Richardsville United Methodist Curch, a member of the Richardsville Social Center, and the Ladies Aid of Richardsville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Pauline K. Thompson (John) of Richardsville, Pa., two granddaughters: Kelly Alfred (Brent) of Erie, Pa., and Kevin Thompson (Angela) of Richardsville, Pa. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren: Johanna K. Thompson and Elijah J. Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers: Jay, Earl, Harold, Melvin, and Dale Cyphret, and one sister: Lucille Cyphret Doutt.
Visitation will be held Tues. March 17, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at McKinney Funeral Home, and Wednesday March 18 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Richardsville United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Richardsville United Methodist Church; Rev. Dr. Clair Lundberg and The Rev. Donald Henderson officiating.
Interment will be held at Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Richardsville United Methodist Church, Richardsville Social Center, and In-Home-Solutions Hospice.
The family would like to thank neighbor Jackie Michelitsch and the staff of In-Home-Solutions Hospice for their many acts of kindness.
