Julia Rothrock Potts

45b5b352-4d79-4711-a203-0ba9142009bd[1]Miss Julia Rothrock Potts of Clearfield passed from this life on May 29th at 9:10pm at the home of her sister, Mrs. Betsy Lezzer surrounded by family.

Julia was born on August 14, 1937 at Clearfield the daughter of the late David B. and Grayce E. Potts.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents and her brother in law Kenneth L. Lezzer. She is survived by her sisters Betsy Lezzer of Curwensville; and Marty (Jack) Eshelman of Buckhannon, WV ; her brothers William D. Potts of New York, NY; John(Nancy) Potts of Clearfield; and Timothy (Karen) Potts of Clearfield.

Also surviving Julia are her nieces Linda (Scott) Moore of Rockton; Julie (Chuck) Seighman of State College; Diane ( Tim) Holland of Curwensville; Kelly ( Tom) Williams of Beckley, WV; Kerri ( Scott) Shepherd of Buckhannon , WV ; Susan ( Jon) Mikesell and Becky (Andy) Brickley all of Clearfield. Surviving nephews are KC (Amy) Lezzer of Clearfield; Kevin Eshelman of Buckhannon , WV; David (Lisa) Potts of Hyannis Port, MA; and Daniel( Stephanie) Potts of Hope Valley, RI. In addition Julia is survived by eleven great nieces, 16 great nephews and four great, great nieces.

A graduate of Clearfield Area High School with the class of 1955, Julia was employed by Lezzer Lumber Co. for more than forty -two years retiring in May of 1999.

Julia served her community in many ways. She was a longtime member and Director Emeritus of the Clearfield Children’s Aid Society. She was on the board of the Curwensville Library. Her activities also included the Literacy Volunteers, the Habitat for Humanity, and the Clearfield Historical Society.

Julia was a member of the Saint Timothy’s Catholic Church of Curwensville.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Julia’s memory to the Clearfield Children’s Aid Society, the Curwensville Library, the Clearfield Historical Society, the Penn Highland Hospice-Clearfield program or a charity of the donor’s choice.

There will be a memorial gathering of Julia’s family and friends on Wednesday, June 3rd from 6:30-8:30pm at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. on 312 Locust Street in Clearfield. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 4th at 11am at Saint Timothy’s Catholic Church in Curwensville with Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrain as celebrant. Julia’s request for cremation will be honored and her cremains will be interred at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.
