Karen Joan (Engle) Wells

Karen Joan (Engle) Wells, 62, of Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania, is at peace following a long and valiant battle with breast cancer.

She was born in DuBois, Pennsylvania on March 28, 1959, on Holy Saturday, with her twin, Sharon, to the late Wilmer and Josephine Engle.

Karen graduated in 1978 from DuBois Central Catholic High School.

Following high school, Karen married the love of her life, Bradley D. Wells, on September 9, 1978.

Karen held a variety of jobs throughout her life, but most recently worked at Oak Heritage in Brockway.

She remained a faithful member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish in Reynoldsville throughout her life.

Karen is remembered as having a spunky and quirky sense of humor, being strong in her faith, and always looking for the silver linings in life.

Karen especially enjoyed Christmas, spending time with her family, and quilting.

She is remembered for using creativity and crafts to share her love for life with those around her.

In addition to being survived by her husband, she is survived also by her children, Kathrine Stiver (Zachariah), of DuBois, Rachel Gearhart (Colton), of Sykesville, and Sarah Jo Wells (fiancée, Tony Grill) of Reynoldsville. She is remembered fondly as “Bubbie” by her four grandchildren, Oakleigh, Ryleigh, and Bayleigh Gearhart, and Noah Stiver. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Wilmer Engle, Jr., James Engle, and Michael Engle. Surviving siblings include Raymond (Betty) Engle, Daniel (Mary) Engle, Jeanne (Bryce) Hall, Sharon Engle, Rita Meglio (Greg Liboski) and Philip (Kim) Engle. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

The family asks that Karen be remembered on her favorite occasions: the first snowfall of the year, the “Eve of Christmas Eve” (December 23rd), and when praying the joyful mysteries of the rosary.

In lieu of flowers, Karen’s wishes were for donations to be made to the Rosary Altar Society of St. Mary’s Parish in Reynoldsville, and/or to Lisa’s Ladybugs (a patient care fund supporting those with cancer), 499 Big Run Road, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

A Celebration of Life for Karen will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 4pm to 8pm in the social hall at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 607 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 26, 2021, also at the church, beginning at 10:00am and officiated by Father William Barron.

Interment will take place at Reynoldsville Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Jefferson Co., PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851.
