Karen Keenan

Karen Keenan, 78, of Hamilton, PA passed away peacefully in the Punxsutawney Area Hospital on Sunday November 21, 2021.

She was born in the Adrian Hospital in Punxsutawney on July 18.1943 to Robert Kermes and Ruth Smith, both of whom preceded her in death.

Karen will be greatly missed by her loving husband Frank Edward Keenan of Hamilton and by her three daughter, Nicole Keenan of Punxsutawney, Erin (Tim) Bosworth, of Bradford, and Dana (Jim) Brauer of Punxsutawney.

She’s also survived and will be missed by her two brothers. Terry (Carol) Kermes of Commodore, PA, and Jerry (Wendy) Neal of Suffolk, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her step father Leon Neal as well as by her sister Barb Furguson and Barb’s husband Charles Furguson.

Karen had several grandchildren whom she loved very much, Mike Bosworth, Emily Bosworth, Katie Brauer and Lauren Brauer.

She worked several years as a bookkeeper for Stroehmann Bakeries and in her spare time loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She also was active with her church and loved teaching Sunday school.

In addition she loved to play softball and was a manager of a girls softball team.

Karen’s funeral care is being entrusted to the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home of Punxsutawney.

There will be a public visitation at the funeral home from 1 PM – 3 PM on Wednesday Nov. 24, 2021 followed by a funeral service at the funeral home by Pastor Don Pendley.

At the request of her family, a private committal service as well as a celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
