Kathleen M. “Kate” Himes

Kathleen M. “Kate” Himes, 64, Rathmel Blvd., Reynoldsville, lost her seven-month battle with cancer on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born July 3, 1951, in Brookville, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Phyllis Greeley. On May 8, 1971, in Reynoldsville, she married Vernon E. Himes. He survives.

Kate retired from Brockway Glass Plant 19 as a foreman after over 30 years of service.

She was a lifelong resident of the area and enjoyed going to Salamanca gambling with her sisters and her friends from work. She loved spending time with her family, especially her youngest nephew, Kameron.

She is also survived by one son, Scott Himes of DuBois; one daughter, Heather Himes of Reynoldsville; and took into her heart as an adoptive granddaughter, Shelby Ghezzi of Strattanville. Also surviving are five sisters: Charlotte Hammer of Brookville, Joanna Plyler of Sigel, Bonnie Shaffer of Brookville, Diane Anenea of KnoxDale and Sandy Martin of Reynoldsville; four brothers: Jim, Jay, Wade and Ward Greeley, all of Brookville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Hammer officiating. Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
