Kenneth A. Bundy

OI199353554_Bundyphoto[1]Kenneth A. Bundy, age 92 of DuBois, PA; died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born in Canton, Ohio on November 7, 1922 he was the son of the late Hiram and Dora Shoemaker Bundy.

He was married on December 6, 1946 to Grace Hallstrom and she preceded him in death on February 28, 2012. They were married for 64 years.

Ken was a graduate of the Sandy Twp. High School, and after graduation played for two years on the Pittsburgh Pirates Farm Team.

A U.S. Army WWII Veteran, he saw action in the Normady Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1946 and served until 1974 when he retired as C.I.S. 4. He then served from 1976 to 1984 as a Clearfield County Commissioner.

Ken was a lifetime member of the 3rd Ward Hose Company in DuBois. He served for 30 years on the board of the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission.

He was a member of the American Legion, served on the Salvation Army Board, was a member of the PA Wildlife Habitat and was a member of L.O.R.D.S. He was a member of the Treasure Lake Church. Ken also worked at Scottish Heights for many years as a ranger.

Ken and Grace spent many wonderful winters in Myrtle Beach as “Snow birds”. He also loved to golf, hunt and fish. Ken loved his family and his Lord. He felt blessed to have had a long healthy, happy, fullfilling, amazing life.

He is survived by a daughter Charmaine (Jim) Dungey of DuBois and a son Tom (Pearl) Bundy of Brockport; 3 brothers: Lyle Bundy of Red Lion, PA; Emil Bundy of Youngsville, PA; Hiram Bundy Jr. of Mechanicsburg, PA; 6 sisters: Jean Christian, Lois Garthwaite, Donna Hallstrom all of DuBois; Dora Mae Dodd of Penfield, PA; Elda Marie Jones of Lancaster and Carolyn Lauer of Florida. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife he is preceded by 1 sister Cleo Saldutte.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 4 from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway.

Friends will also be received on Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. at the Treasure Lake Church. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. also at the church with Pastor Richard Whitaker and Pastor Bob Cappel officiating.

Full Military honors as well as State Police honors will be accorded Friday morning at the church.

Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
