Kevin Richard Clemens

Clemens KevinKevin Richard Clemens, 59, of New Bethlehem (Distant), died of acute leukemia which he battled since August 2012 on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning.

Born on December 11, 1955 in Brookville, he was the son Richard Joseph and Marlene Alberta (Shick) Clemens. He was married Louise Gale (Algoe) on May 21, 1983.

He belonged to the Oakland Church of God in Distant. He worked as an underground equipment operator for R & P Coal Company for 23 ½ years and as a custodian for the Redbank Valley School district for 14 years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Association. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Louise Gale Clemens of New Bethlehem, three sons, Brady Alan Clemens of State College, Christopher John Clemens of Brackenridge and Austin Dean Clemens of New Bethlehem. He is also survived by several aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by both parents, an infant sister and a brother, Kelly Melvin Clemens.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Oakland Church of God in Distant. The funeral service will be on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 1:00 pm from the church with Pastor Jimmy Swogger officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the New Bethlehem Area Free Public Library at 720 Broad St. New Bethlehem, Pa. 16242.

The arrangements are being handled by the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.
