L. Catherine Simpson, 92, of Summerville, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Penn Highlands Brookville.
She was born on December 12, 1925, in Brookville to the late Milo R. and Irene (Flack) Spare.
She graduated from Summerville High School in 1943. She married Wayne B. Simpson on December 12, 1945. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1990. She was a member of the Summerville Presbyterian Church.
Catherine, along with her husband, owned and operated Simp’s Burgers in Summerville for many years. She also had worked at Allegretto’s Store in Summerville for many years.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Maxine (John) Burns of Summerville; a son Bob (Becky) Simpson of Summerville; her granddaughter Brianne (Michael) Braunstein of Valencia, PA; her great-grandsons, Michael and David Braunstein of Valencia; her sister, Betty Adams of Youngstown, OH, and a special cousin Shirley Mason of Okeene, OK.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad Street, Summerville, PA. A Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Dietrich officiating. Interment will follow in Vandervort Cemetery, Clover Township, Jefferson County.
