L. Hays Chambers, former Dean of Student Affairs at Penn State DuBois, passed away recently at the DuBois Nursing Home.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather he was loved by many and a friend to all but most importantly, a devoted servant of God. Mr. Chambers retired in 1980 after 20 years of service to the Penn State DuBois campus. He was one of those rare people who enjoyed every day he spent at the campus as it allowed him to be in contact and work with the students he so enjoyed.
Mr. Chambers born March 4, 1920, a World War II Navy Veteran was also active in the community. He served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, DuBois Community Center, past President and Rotary club member as well as a Paul Harris Fellow. He held many positions at First United Methodist Church, DuBois and was a former Jaycees Distinguished Service Award recipient.
Hays is survived by his son John W. and daughter in law Lori along with granddaughters Olivia and Emily all of DuBois. A brother William of Cumberland, Maryland and a brother Richard of Williamsport, Maryland
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. from the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home Inc.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 1 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church in DuBois with Pastor Lance Tucker officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded from the church by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
