Lavada “Arlene” McCleary

lavadaLavada “Arlene” McCleary, age 80, of Sheep Farm Road, Corsica, passed away at her home on November 5, 2016.

Born on March 13, 1936 in San Bernardino, CA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alta (Curr) Over. On July 21, 1956, in Miola, she married Charles “Jiggs” Floyd McCleary. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2000.

After traveling with her parents throughout the United States, her family returned to Rimersburg where their original roots began. There, she worked at the Archway Cookie Plant before starting her family. She was a homemaker thereafter.

Arlene enjoyed painting, loved gardening, canning and spending time with family and friends. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She had a huge heart for all animals, and especially her cats, Freckles and Phoebe.

She enjoyed yard sales and browsing through antique shops (“what not shops” as she would call them). She was involved in the Stitch and Chatter Club.

Arlene is survived by her children, Mark (Sandy) McCleary of Corsica, Charles “Matt” (Susan) McCleary of Shippenville, Chris (Brad) Judy of Charlotte, NC, Mike McCleary (friend Helen) of Butler, and Vicky (Scott) Foster of Erie; her ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Over of Distant and Betty Malanovich of Rimersburg.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Ardell Over.

The family would like to thank In-Home Solution for all the support provided for these last three years.
